Foster Agreement/Application

Interested in determining if an animal is right for you and helping save lives? Become a foster parent!

As a foster family, I/we agree to:

– Provide nutritious meals, fresh water, grooming, a safe environment, and appropriate shelter for the foster dog or cat.
– Never leave the foster dog or cat tied up, especially when unattended, or in a vehicle, even with the windows rolled down, as this can lead to heat stroke and potentially death.
– Arrange my family’s schedule so that the dog or cat is not left alone for more than eight hours at a time.
– Play with, pet, and give attention to the foster dog or cat when I am home.
– Inform Ragdoll Rescue Connection Home (RRCH) immediately of any changes in the animal’s health and obtain clearance before seeking non-emergency care.
– Regularly check the foster dog or cat for signs of illness and perform frequent flea and tick checks.

I will not:

– Hit the foster dog or cat, recognizing that such methods are ineffective and counterproductive. Instead, I will use positive reinforcement to encourage desired behavior.
– Hesitate to consult RRCH if I encounter any behavioral difficulties with the foster animal.

I agree to:

– Supervise the foster dog or cat closely around children (especially unfamiliar children or adults) and in potentially dangerous situations such as near roadways, water, or during vehicle travel (preferably using a crate).
– Ensure the foster dog wears an identification tag with a phone number at all times.
– Allow any necessary home visits as determined by RRCH.
– Relinquish the animal upon request.

I understand that RRCH makes every effort to evaluate an animal’s temperament and behavior and is concerned about the health of its animals. While preventive immunizations are given, the nature of rescue work means that animals may carry or have been exposed to diseases that may not be immediately apparent. RRCH cannot guarantee the health or temperament of the foster dog or cat. I acknowledge the potential risks, including the possibility of the animal biting or causing injury, and have decided that fostering this animal is suitable for my household.
